EROAD’s Top 20 Highlights for 2024
EROAD’s Top 20 Highlights for 2024
At EROAD, we’re committed to our purpose of delivering intelligence our customers can trust, for a better world tomorrow.
This year we surpassed 250,000 connected units globally, celebrated a decade of doing business in Australia, and marked ten years of being listed on the NZX. Our focus on driving customer outcomes was also recognised when we were named finalists in the Company of the Year category at this year’s Hi Tech Awards.
In 2024, our goal was to find more ways to deliver value to fleet businesses. This has been the driving force behind multiple new products, leading industry events and platform enhancements. Here’s our Top 20 highlights from 2024.
Easier driver management
We want to make it easier for customers to manage driver hours, compliance and administration. We’ve delivered three key enhancements this year to support this:
#1 Several performance and feature enhancements to the Driver Profiles page makes driver management and compliance a breeze.
#2 Driver logbook hours in the Fleet Map helps reduce the risk of non-compliance and simplifies job management with location, duty status and driver hours remaining on one screen
#3 Drive Buddy Fatigue, available on the Ehubo2 is a simple, flexible driver fatigue management tool that provides visual and audible reminders to take rest breaks in line with company or vehicle-specific policies.
Better platform experience
We’ve been continuously working alongside customers to roll out updates and enhancements on our platforms that deliver a more seamless, intuitive experience for our users:
#4 MyEROAD Fleet Map upgrade provides better definition between road types, displays restrictions that could impact your route planning and supports handy features like exit numbers and delivery entrances to make navigation easier.
#5 Replay, our video viewing portal was added to Core360, enabling customers on both platforms to easily investigate incidents through connected dashcams
#6 When reviewing dashcam footage, customers sometimes need a little more context to understand what happened immediately before or after. We’ve made this simple and intuitive by adding buttons below the Replay clip to review the previous 20 seconds and next 20 seconds of footage.
#7 Enterprise Authentication simplifies user management and helps keep fleet data secure, by aligning user access to the customer organisation’s active directory or identity provider. Single sign-on, also known as SSO, allows a user to access multiple applications or websites by logging in with one username and password. Creating a secure, seamless login experience.
#8 Fleet hierarchy is a new user permissions tool in MyEROAD designed specifically for larger, more complex fleets. By organising your fleet into hierarchy groups, it makes it much easier to manage and automate user permissions.
Intelligent driver safety
EROAD has been helping fleets to improve safety for years, and with these new products and enhancements we’re helping fleets to continue making their fleets safer.
#9 The new Clarity Edge AI-dashcam takes driver safety to the next level by monitoring the driver and the road in real-time for potential behavioural hazards, like fatigue, mobile use and tailgating. Instant driver alerts can reduce the likelihood of accidents.
#10 A refreshed layout in Replay and new automated tags for behaviours detected, deliver a comprehensive view of what’s happening to make improvements, coach drivers and intervene before a serious incident occurs.
#11 Alert data from the Priority Alerts and CaRA products now integrate into a customer’s own monitoring systems.
#12 Enhanced severe overspeed alerts feature, which alerts operators if a vehicle breaches a speeding threshold for any speed zone, e.g. going 15kmh over the road speed.
Smart engine monitoring
This year we enabled connectivity between the Ehubo2 and the ECM in heavy vehicles through EROAD CAN Bus Connect, which has delivered brand new layers of insight for customers:
#13 Smart Rules can help prevent expensive repair bills by sending alerts to the workshop or fleet manager when a monitored datapoint (such as engine temperature) is outside the acceptable range. Datapoints can be combined or have time-based criteria added to help monitor a range of safety or efficiency measures, such as whether a driver is driving without the seatbelt.
#14 The CAN Fuel Economy Report delivers detailed insights and performance benchmarking for truck fuel consumption right down to driver level.
Connect your whole fleet
We continued to add new, modern hardware options for customers this year, with the goal of allowing fleets to better manage their entire fleet in one, easy-to-use and convenient platform:
#15 Etrack Locate tracks light vehicle location, speed and activity. See how long vehicles spend on customer sites, or get a log of entries and exits using custom geofences, and keep fleets running smoothly with automated servicing, WoF and Rego reminders.
#16 The NZTA-approved CoreHub Trailer delivers 4G trailer tracking and paperless RUC compliance, and its rugged design is built to withstand extreme temperatures, chemicals and hot pressure washes.
Support for EVs
Supporting customers with the transition to EVs:
#17 RUC purchasing for customers with EVs and Hybrids helps them to meet the new requirements and continue managing RUC in one place.
#18 Real-time State of Charge (for heavy EVs only) on the MyEROAD Fleet Map is a game-changer for managing productivity and vehicle uptime, while adapting to EV technology.
#19 Activity history alongside state of charge (for heavy EVs only) helps customers improve fleet utilisation, scheduling and charging.
Delivering industry-leading events
And last, but by no means least are the events we’ve delivered to bring our industry together to advance fleet safety and efficiency.
#20 Over 1,600 people attended EROAD Fleet Day events in 2024, with Christchurch in February and Hamilton in August. We had interactive vehicle displays and test drives on the runway in Christchurch and a live vehicle crane drop in Hamilton. From across Australia and New Zealand, transport industry professionals, exhibitors, and experts discussed the latest trends, opportunities, and challenges, with a focus on three crucial aspects of modern fleet management: Safety, Efficiency, and Sustainability.
Looking ahead to 2025, there are several enhancements we’ll be bringing to market, including new accessory hardware for Clarity Edge to deliver advanced driver and vehicle management. Platform reliability and stability will also be a big focus for our engineering teams over the next six months, as we continue to modernise and enhance our platforms to deliver a superior level of service to our customers.
