Safetrak Northland: Streamlined Fleet Management with EROAD
Safetrak Northland: Streamlined Fleet Management with EROAD
Safetrak Northland is a Northland-based road management company with three primary departments: traffic management, NOC maintenance, and plant and machine operations. Over the last six years, the company has grown exponentially, servicing multiple roading contractors in the region. Their diverse fleet includes both Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles – from utes and sign trucks to tippers – as well as specialty equipment like hydro-excavation (“sucker”) trucks, tractor sweepers, and excavators.
Challenges
Operating across a large, rural region presents ongoing challenges. Safetrak Northland must keep pace with fast-turnaround projects, ensuring all vehicles and equipment are serviced, maintained, and meet stringent customer and compliance requirements. Tracking and scheduling maintenance for this expanding fleet became increasingly complex. Additionally, unreliable mobile coverage in remote areas made communication with drivers difficult.
Why EROAD?
To address these issues, Safetrak Northland implemented EROAD’s solutions, including the EHUBO 2 devices in their vehicles and the EROAD Inspect App for pre- and post-trip inspections. This integrated approach allows them to efficiently record service and maintenance plans, as well as keep real-time tabs on their fleet.
We had such exponential growth that it was so hard to track our assets, record their service and maintenance plans. With EROAD, we were able to manage that a lot more efficiently.
– Peter Subritzky, Traffic Manager Supervisor, Safetrak Northland
1. Reliable Communication in Remote Areas
In locations with limited mobile coverage, the messaging feature on EHUBO 2 ensures drivers remain contactable.
We’ve had instances where crews have got lost. We haven’t been able to contact them via cell phone, but we’ve been able to send them messages on the Gen 2 and provide directions.
2. Improved Driver Behaviour
By using the driver login feature, Safetrak Northland has significantly reduced overspeed incidents.
The overspeed reports of our drivers has decreased significantly. We’ve been able to target our common offenders of speeding, and we’ve seen a massive reduction.
3. Greater Operational Visibility
The daily activity reports allow Safetrak Northland to optimise work schedules and budgets, ensuring they allocate resources in the most cost-effective way.
One feature that I love about EROAD is the daily activity reports. I can record and analyse these on a daily basis and see areas we can manage as cost-effective and economically as possible.
4. Streamlined Maintenance and Inspections
The EROAD Inspect App simplifies daily checks, allowing staff to easily complete and document pre- and post-trip inspections. This ensures vehicles remain compliant and reduces downtime.
Conclusion
By adopting EROAD’s integrated telematics solutions, Safetrak Northland can handle the growing demands of their fleet with greater clarity and confidence. Their teams work more efficiently, maintain better communication on remote jobs, and benefit from transparent, data-driven insights that support smarter fleet decisions. For Safetrak Northland, EROAD has become an indispensable partner in delivering on customer commitments – matter the challenge.
